After leaving New York, we headed to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. There’s not a lot of campground options in the Pittsburgh area for RVs and we ended up at Mountain Top Campground near Tarentum, PA. It had great views of the countryside around us, but was a little tricky to get in and out of!
The Pittsburgh area is very hilly with lots of trees, which made for beautiful drives when the trees were starting to turn colors. The road that we took to get to the main highway had many picturesque views of the Fall colors mixed in with barns and fields, but unfortunately there wasn’t a place to pull off and take photos - the road didn’t have any shoulders or pull off areas - and it was just too curvy and narrow to try and make a spot to take a quick photo. I did find several places around the campground to take a few photos though.
While we were here, we got to see Grace several times! Her schedule was bit chaotic, but she was able to come spend a few evenings with us at the campground and we were able to eat supper with her at her apartment one evening. It was fun to see all of the changes that she had done to her apartment in the 3 months since we moved her to Pittsburgh!
One of the nights that she spent at the camper with us, we got up early enough to check out a local coffee shop before she had to leave for work. If you’re ever in the Tarentum area, Harvest Moon Coffee & Chocolate Company had great coffee, pastries, and chocolates! And I found my favorite t-shirt here -
Drink Coffee
Eat Chocolate
Be Kind
A motto I can get behind! :)
When we booked our stay here, neither us nor Grace had any idea what her schedule would be like during our stay. While we did get spend quite a bit of time with her, we realized that the day after we left she had the full day off. Unfortunately, we were already on our way to Tennessee.
Glad to hear that Grace is doing well. Sounds like you had good visit.
